Apart
from many private residences and villas in Bali, GW Interiors
works as a consultant to some of Bali’s finest luxury resorts
and Gill is also the design consultant for the well known restaurant
group “Indochine” on soft furnishings for many of
their restaurants in Singapore as well as acting as a soft furnishings
supplier to some of Sydney’s leading restaurants.
She studied with the Regent Academy of Fine Arts London and first
came to work in design and interiors in India, when she lived
in New Delhi. Her thriving business developed as she sought out
antique furniture, restored and sold pieces to many private clients
from Embassy officials to heads of Multi national corporations.
Gill Wilson moved to Japan in 1996, which enticed her to study
Japanese furniture, art, fabrics and ceramics, especially those
from the Edo and Mejia Era for which she developed a deep passion.
One of the items in her home is a precious eight-panel screen
from the Edo period, which features the intricate artwork of a
palace in Kyoto. She has it mounted on her dining room wall and
considers it one of her most prized possessions. “I just
love this piece because it is simply so beautiful. It was a rare
find that I discovered in Japan and I could not believe my luck
at finding it. I consider it priceless.”
Gill has also designed and produced a range of exclusive items
for retail outlets in one of the world’s luxury hotels Badrutts
Palace, Saint Moritz. Silver belts inlaid with semi precious stones,
giftware and exclusive tableware were amongst many of the items
specially created for the luxury hotel. |
